La Stüa de Michil - Simone Cantafio
This is a serious Italian heavyweight, over 3,100 wines built around red Piedmont and Tuscany. Barolo and Barbaresco run deep, with strong verticals from Giacomo Conterno, Aldo Conterno, and Domenico Clerico, while the Tuscan side leans on Sangiovese Grosso through houses like Marchesi Antinori, Fontodi, and Castellare di Castellina. Whites and sparkling are present but secondary, mostly Chardonnay, and there is real Champagne depth via Bruno Paillard alongside a small showing of Gaja from Piedmont. Pricing starts accessibly around 75 to 134 EUR at the low end, though the collector tiers climb well past that. Note there is no wine by the glass, so every guest is committing to a bottle. This list rewards a guest who wants to drink Nebbiolo and top Tuscan reds with age and producer pedigree.
