Alte Liebe
This is a deep, German speaking list of 728 bottles built around the Pfalz, Rheinhessen, and Austria's Steiermark, with whites making up the bulk of it at 186 selections against 79 reds. The strength is serious German and Austrian growers, with real depth from Wasenhaus in Baden, Friedrich Becker and A. Christmann and Bürklin Wolf in the Pfalz, and Andreas Tscheppe in Steiermark, plus a focused reach into Burgundy through Thomas Morey and Domaine des Comtes Lafon and into Piedmont via Roagna. Sparkling runs 55 deep with a Champagne section, and there is a small dessert and fortified group. Be aware there is no by the glass program, so everything goes out by the bottle, with prices in the 120 to 180 euro range on the examples we have. This rewards a guest who wants to drink German and Austrian Riesling and the like at depth, or someone chasing a specific Burgundy or Piedmont grower.
