Barcelona Wine Bar

This is a Spain first list, built around Rioja in both its traditional and modern styles, with real reach into Castilla y Leon, Penedès cava from houses like Gramona and Avinyó, and a deep bench of Tempranillo from producers such as La Rioja Alta and Bodegas Ponce. Red is the engine here, 268 of the 463 bottles, with Argentine Malbec out of Luján de Cuyo giving the New World counterweight, plus a solid white showing led by Penedès and Loire Valley. It is an accessible list before it is a trophy list, with a median around 53 dollars and bottles starting at 7, though it can go the distance for a guest who wants R. Lopez de Heredia Viña Tondonia or Vega Sicilia Único at 680. The glass program is genuinely useful at 45 pours, so you can guide most tables without opening a bottle. Reach for it when a guest wants Spanish reds with range, and lean on the by the glass when they want to explore without committing.
