Bas Rouge

This is a deep, serious cellar of nearly 1,250 selections built around Burgundy and Bordeaux, with real backbone in Germany through growers like Keller, Okonomierat Rebholz, and Karthauserhof. White wine is the clear strength, outnumbering reds and anchored by Chardonnay and a strong Riesling spine from the Pfalz and Mosel, with Champagne grower fizz such as Agrapart et Fils filling out the sparkling section. Prices run from about $40 up to $8,400 for Petrus and DRC, but the median sits near $225, so there is plenty of access for guests who want something good without going deep. Note there is no wine by the glass, so every recommendation is a full bottle commitment. This list rewards the collector and the curious drinker who knows German Riesling and white Burgundy and wants depth from named producers like Buisson Charles and Jean Marc Pillot.
