Crown Shy

This is a serious, France leaning cellar built around Burgundy, with 90 Burgundy entries anchoring the reds and whites and real depth in Volnay, Meursault, and the great names like Domaine de la Romanee Conti, Roumier, Comtes Lafon, and Leflaive. Champagne is a genuine second strength, with grower territory across the Cote des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, and the Vallee de la Marne, so 111 sparkling bottles give you plenty to work with on a celebration. White is the largest category at 324 bottles, and Germany shows up too, mostly Mosel Riesling, while reds outside Burgundy lean on Bordeaux and Rhone weight from Jean Louis Chave. There is no glass program, so everything is by the bottle, and the range runs wide, from $55 up to $11,000 with a median near $315, meaning you can take care of a casual table or a trophy hunter from the same book. This list rewards a guest who knows Burgundy and Champagne and wants to go deep, but you can still steer a curious drinker to something honest under $100.
