Galatoire’s 33 Bar and Steak

This is a big, red leaning, Burgundy driven list, nearly 900 bottles with reds alone topping 450 and Burgundy red the single deepest category at 166 listings. The Burgundy commitment is real and goes to the top, with Louis Jadot the most listed house and a serious Domaine de la Romanee Conti presence that includes Romanee Conti itself at the very high end. Beyond Burgundy it covers the prestige bases you would expect from a steak house, strong in Champagne, Bordeaux, Southern Rhone with Chateau Rayas, and a solid run of California Cabernet led by Duckhorn and Jordan, plus 86 large format selections for the table. Pricing runs the full spread from about $7 to $25,000 with a median near $195, so there is room to find value but the heart of the list sits at a real spend. With 48 wines by the glass and white at 189 bottles it can still cover guests who are not buying Grand Cru, but this list most rewards the table that wants old world reds and is ready to commit.
