Lux Lucis

This is a sparkling driven list at heart, with 179 bubblies and a deep Champagne bench anchored by Pol Roger, Krug, and Piper Heidsieck, plus serious Italian spumante from Ca' del Bosco. Whites slightly outnumber reds, and the Chardonnay focus is real with 84 listings, but the prestige weight on the red side sits in Piedmont, where Gaja and Conterno lead the Nebbiolo selection, alongside Tuscan power from Tenuta Masseto. At 616 wines this is a big, ambitious book for a one star, leaning Italian and French with strength in Pinot Nero and Cabernet as well. The 23 wines by the glass give you room to work the floor, and the native bottle pricing starts low, around 18 to 20 euro, so there are honest entry points under the marquee names. It rewards a guest who wants Champagne or top Piedmont and a staff member who knows where the value openers sit beneath the trophies.
