Silvio Nickol Gourmet Restaurant

This is a serious cellar, almost 5,000 wines deep, built on Bordeaux and Burgundy at the top end alongside a strong showing of Austria's own. Reds and whites carry the list in near equal weight, with Bordeaux leading by region and the Wachau close behind, so you will field plenty of questions on F.X. Pichler and Hirtzberger as much as on Mouton Rothschild, Lafite, and Domaine de la Romanee Conti. Champagne is well stocked at over 200 bottles, and the dessert and fortified section runs deep too, with Kracher and Yquem anchoring the sweet end. Prices reach high, with bottles into the hundreds of euros and beyond, so this is a list for guests ready to spend and for the rare bottle hunter rather than the casual drinker. Note there is no wine by the glass, so every recommendation is a full bottle commitment, something to flag early in service.
