The Hermitage Inn

This is a deep, red driven cellar of 649 wines built around two anchors, Piemonte and the Napa Cabernet axis, with Barolo running 49 listings deep behind a Fontanafredda holding of 18 and a Barolo Riserva that tops the book at $5,500. The other pillar is California, where Opus One, Peter Michael, and Peay Vineyards carry the Cabernet and red blend weight, backed by serious Burgundy on both colors through Vincent Girardin. Bottles open at $14 and climb to first growth Bordeaux and Petrus near the ceiling, but the median sits around $180, so there is real drinking between the trophies if you read past the marquee names. Whites are present but secondary at 174 listings, mostly Burgundy and California Chardonnay, and rosé is almost an afterthought at three. The 32 glass pours give you room to work the floor, and this list rewards anyone steering a guest toward Barolo, Napa Cabernet, or a marked up cellar Bordeaux.
